Program Guide

The Odyssey Inclusive Program Guide, which will be available soon, provides detailed information about the program, performance options, spontaneous, the tournament, and performance rules. Every coach should read the Program Guide carefully before beginning to work with their team.

 

Long-Term Problem

Each season, an Odyssey of the Mind problem is adapted for Odyssey Inclusive teams. For the 2023-24 season, Problem 5, Rockin’ World Detour was chosen. Various elements of the problem were accommodated for Odyssey Inclusive teams, including mandatory style elements, a list of band merchandise items to choose from, and other adaptations to scored elements of the performance. These accommodations allowed for many opportunities for creativity and individualization of the team’s solution.

 

Spontaneous

Sample spontaneous problems are available for Odyssey Inclusive teams to practice during team meetings. As with the long term problem, three options for each have been provided so the coach can choose which is most appropriate for their team. More spontaneous problems will be added for the 2025 season.

 

Team Forms for the Tournament

Odyssey Inclusive teams use forms at the tournament that are similar to, but somewhat different from, Odyssey of the Mind teams. These forms will be explained in detail during coach training.

 

Sample forms from the 2023-2024 season:

• Team Required List - this form provides information to the Long Term performance judges about the scored elements of the team’s play.

• Style Form - this form provides information to the Style judges about the scored style elements of the team’s play.

• Cost Form - this form provides a list of items used in the performance and the total cost, which cannot exceed the amount allowed.

• Assistance Form - this form provides information about what appropriate assistance was provided in the before and during the team’s performance.

• Team Questions Form - this form provides a list of questions that judges should use when talking to the team after their performance.

 

Each season, the Program Director for Odyssey Inclusive will update the paperwork and will hold a live Tournament Paperwork Webinar to support coaches as they work with their teams to complete tournament paperwork. The date and time for this webinar will be sent to all Odyssey Inclusive coaches and will be posted on our Coach and Judge Training website.

 

Judging Forms for the Tournament

Each season, the Program Director for Odyssey Inclusive will update the tournament paperwork for judges and will hold a training session to support judges as they prepare to work with Odyssey Inclusive teams. The date and time for this webinar will be sent to all Odyssey Inclusive associations and will be posted on our Coach and Judge Training website.
